Successful products are built on relationships

We appreciate at a deep level the artistry, labor and technical constraints that go into every heirloom-quality textile for the home.

We also understand the adjustments required on the retail side to embrace these types of products, and how it can make sense for the bottom line.

A collaborative effort where both maker and retailer comprehend each other’s challenges from the outset is critical to a timely, profitable outcome.

Some recent successes:

Banana Republic Home’s popular “Estero” rug…

… came out of a delightful partnership with the artisans at Buenos Norte Argentino. These rugs were made by women artisans on looms like the one pictured above of 100% natural undyed sheep’s wool. Some were dyed with carob shells or onion skins. The project contributed to Buenos Norte’s ongoing mission of keeping alive local cultural techniques while supporting the region economically.

A beloved wool throw from Spain

We worked with Ezcaray to develop exquisite brushed wool throws with hand-braided statement fringe in three colorways exclusive to Banana Republic Home. Ezcaray is a small family company in the Rioja region of Spain that has been making blankets for nearly a century. These throws were the perfect combination of natural materials, time-honored artistry and modern style. They sold out almost instantly.
