Jennifer Black - principal
Jennifer is a textile-focused product leader with a background in home textiles, rugs, and upholstery.
Over the past decade, she has developed collections for major U.S. brands including Restoration Hardware (RH) and Banana Republic Home, working closely with international mills and artisans to shepherd each product seamlessly from concept through production.
She founded Studio Refrain as an independent practice to explore textile design more deeply, with a focus on pattern, color, and material traditions. Based between Oakland and Paris, her work draws from direct engagement with other designers, fabricators and historic textile references, exploring the relationships between heritage, visual narrative, and contemporary product.
Her approach combines hands-on development experience with ongoing study in textile design, including formal training in print and pattern at GRETA de la Création, Design et des Métiers d’Art in Paris.
“Bringing extraordinary textile product into the home has become a personal calling .”
